Sara Johnson

With over 14 years of dedicated experience in health leadership and 24 years in the health sector, Sara has established a robust career guiding interdisciplinary health teams within complex and evolving environments. As the Executive Director of Primary Health Services for Regina Integrated Health since March 2023, Sara oversees a broad portfolio including Primary Health Care, Public Health, Home Care, and Chronic Disease Management. This role involves strategic advisement, operational decision-making, and leadership over a significant team and budget. Sara has demonstrated exceptional skills in emergency preparedness and pandemic response, notably leading several health response initiatives during the COVID-19 crisis.

 

Before this role, Sara was the Director of Primary Health Care at Saskatchewan Health Authority (SHA) from January 2018 to March 2023. In this capacity, she managed a team of 160 employees and a $15 million budget, driving efforts in patient and family-centered care, budget management, and health service operations.

 

Sara began her career at SHA as a Mental Health Therapist, progressing to roles such as Senior Social Worker and Manager of Mental Health and Addiction Services (MHAS). Her contributions included the development of an electronic health record system for MHAS, the development of centralized intake services, and the redesign of mental health services.

 

In May 2024, Sara completed a Master of Business Administration (MBA), further enhancing her executive capabilities. She also holds a Master of Social Work and Bachelor's degrees in Social Work and Human Justice from the University of Regina. Their professional development includes advanced certifications in healthcare leadership, Lean management, and coaching. Passionate about continuous improvement and collaborative leadership, Sara is committed to advancing healthcare services and is now focused on leveraging their executive skills to achieve a broader impact in the sector.
