Description
RIWC Regina Immigrant Women Centre is seeking an Intake Officer. The Intake Officer is the initial point of contact for registration and referral of new and returning Newcomer and Immigrant persons to programs and services that support their settlement goals. The Intake Officer will register and assess the eligibility of Newcomer and Immigrant persons for their access to the RIWC programs and services and advance applicable referrals to external community services, activities, events and social groups
RESPONSIBILITIES
Conduct initial settlement services assessment for Newcomer and Immigrant persons
Provide settlement-related information and facilitate client access to essential internal and external programs, activities and events
Administer settlement-related workshops
Maintain a current inventory of community and government services and referral agencies
Strengthen relationships with community partners and networks and represent RIWC at community agency meetings
Track and compile statistics and assist with program quality assurance audits/surveys and in the preparation of statistical and program reports
QUALIFICATIONS
Post-Secondary Education and/or 2 years experience supporting Immigrants and Newcomers
Knowledge of community-based services and resources in the Regina area
Valid drivers license
Clear Vulnerable Sector criminal record check
ABILITIES
Identify and assess client eligibility and document relevant client information
Communicate effectively verbally and in writing
Plan and facilitate culturally appropriate settlement services related workshops
Maintain a network of community contacts with a diverse range of individuals
Advocate on behalf of clients
Work independently and participate as a contributing member within the workplace, community and other agencies
Ability to use various electronic systems
Availability to work in the evenings and weekends
